Armani held the Privé Haute Couture show in Paris later in January. His fall 2022 menswear collections and his fall 2022 Emporio Armani collections are expected to be shown next Milan menswear week. Armani was the first designer in the fashion industry to close its doors to live audiences back in February 2020, when the extent of the first wave of the Covid-19 pandemic to come was not yet apparent. Armani’s decision turned out to be highly proactive – although Paris Fashion Week for fall 2020 did go essentially on schedule – so today’s news sparked an intimidating sense of déjà deja vu.
Armani’s company said: “Based on the deteriorating epidemiological situation, we have made this decision with great regret and careful thought. As the designer has expressed, the fashion show is a vital and irreplaceable occasion. Still, the health and safety of employees and the public must again be a priority.”
